I personally don't watch videos anymore with the exception of concepts.
It all comes down to reading a lot and wasting a lot of time practicing.
Do you have the money and time to spend on web dev books?

I don't particularly. I do prefer the videos over the books, though I haven't read any dev books. I recently was turned on to Team Tree House and some of their videos go into great detail with how to do stuff. They also show you hands on. It's a great tool especially for a beginner.

I saw a video of theirs yesterday and they were talking about a new css fastdom.
It was very fast, never heard about it. They give quality videos and a lot of people love it.
You will have great time learning there
