I never do something like that, mainly because I am always busy trying to program every single day for years.
Especially with apps, redesign is quite a painful thing to do alone. Image to change a theme on something you had been working a year, it would be a real pain. So if it is really easy to change, I do it, otherwise I leave it. |

I love changing my forum's themes when we have celebrations. Halloween or Christmas for example. I remember that some years ago, I ordered a custom Christmas theme which was awesome! I used to add some features, like shadows or snow, but they usually slow the speed of the website, that's why they're so annoying. Finally, I don't like changing cursors because they create many problems, especially when you want to copy or paste something.

I change the theme of my forum to suit the holiday periods and I like to celebrate the small ones as well, for the other religions, I put up a thread on my board and ask them which ones would they like to see and celebrate and we go from there. I had a very scary theme for Halloween and we did lots of competitions, and gave out lots of prizes.
Christmas is coming up,, so I am starting to get ideas, for it. and competitions to run as well. |

I think it is important for sites to be festive as not a lot of sites do that anymore! It makes the site stand out from others and draws people in but that is just my opinion.
