Now I read lots of fantasy, sci-fi novels and short stories and etc. Why? Because I believe in magic (magic powers), fairies, faes and elves, spirits and etc.

And there's a sub-genre to that genre: mythological fantasy: fantasy novels based on myths (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Mayan, Inca, Egyptian, Persian-Arab... Jewish...)

Personally I love ready stuff in this genre, if I really get into the story I sometimes find myself believing in it!

yeah me too. I find myself so drawn/wrapped into the novel's fairytale universe (like Stardust, by Neil Gaiman's, Harry Potter by Jo Rowling, L.O.T.R by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman, lots of imagination...)

Now, the Golden Compass may be a little too childish, but it's my favourite. You?

I can only read and enjoy fantasy, for the most part, when it's modern or futuristic. I don't really like magic or mythical creatures, so that singles out quite a bit of what the fantasy genre has to offer. I liked the big ones like LotR and Harry Potter, but while they're great pieces of work, I was never so thoroughly awed by them. I am more into science fiction in terms of fantasy.
