I read both, but I'd prefer female over male, but that's just me here. You: which one do you enjoy reading?

I think I prefer male writers for a couple of reasons. But one of the reasons I can think of specifically, and recently, actually, was when I was researching science fiction/cyberpunk books. I was looking for a new author to pick up when I finish this book I'm reading currently, and came across this one written by a woman. The main character was your typical "strong heroine" who "doesn't need anyone" but "ends up with the super hot rich guy" anyway. I think that women tend to come from a more emotional standpoint, making connections and relationships with people, whereas guys go about it differently. They do still do that, but in a different manner that doesn't always end up with the main character settling down.
As a female who tends to think and feel more like her male counterparts, I have a hard time connecting with females and understanding how some of them think in general. I am not saying I don't feel the way some females feel, but in certain aspects, I am not interested in reading about a girl who gets the guy in the end despite being strong and independent. How about a strong, independent woman who rides off into the sunset by herself with a smile on her face and never looking back? Hard to find those ones. Male authors it is for me. |

It doesn't make a difference to me if the author is male or female when I am searching for a book. I don't think I even think about that if I find I didn't enjoy the book. I can understand that depending the genre it is more likely to find male or female authors, but with some many using pen names to by pass that, I don't even think that is a good way to weed out our reading.
In general I think I've read more male authors than female, but I don't think it means I enjoy more male authors. |

I do not really have a preference when it comes to writers as I like a wide variety of genres. But I find myself reading more books by females rather than males but As I said I am not picky! Just has to be a book that interests me!

As long as the can write, I don't care. I tend to like female writers, something about them. It's almost like they have more of a mysterious way of the writing.
