Some how this is always one of the first threads in a graphic design discussion board. What are some of the graphic design programs that you use? I use Adobe Photoshop and In Design, but mainly Photoshop CS7.

I don't design often but when I do I use Photoshop. I used to use GIMP and it was good for what I needed it for then but now I need something a little more powerful.

I use GIMP 2.8. It easy for both beginner and professional. I have been using GIMP since 2011, no problem with it at all. What more? It is a free version of Photoshop.

I used to use Maxon Cinema 4D for renders, but have always used Paintshop Pro for everything else.
I've also dabbled with Illy. I have attempted to transition to Photoshop from Paintshop Pro, but just couldn't do it. I am too familiar and comfortable with PSP

So, which is your favourite GFX software? Gimp, Photoshop, Paint
or something else that's equally awesome? |

I've used both GIMP and Photoshop for designing graphics.
As for my favorite it depends, if we're talking about how powerful it is and easy it is to use then it would be Photoshop. But for me GIMP is my favorite as it's free and I'm still able to easily do everything I could do in Photoshop, just takes a little more thinking and an extra step or two to get it done. Though for the time being I'm only creating signatures. When I start to move into other areas of designing requiring more time and effort, I might think otherwise.

So, which is your favourite GFX software? Gimp, Photoshop, Paint or something else that's equally awesome? I'm a creature of habit, and don't like change with anything. I hate going out of my comfort zone for the majority of things. Thus, because I learned Paintshop Pro since the Jasc days, I prefer that. It's honestly no way as good as Photoshop. Photoshop is by far superior to it, BUT it is a lot cheaper. It's about £60 for Paintshop Pro, and it has a lot of amazing features. It just lacks a lot too (in comparison to that of Adobe PS). I only ever tried 3D Studio Max and Cinema 4D for 3D Renders, and again, I tried/used/learnt Cinema 4D first before 3DS, so it flt horrible trying to use it. I don't think I have a favourite program at all, because it all depends upon what I am trying to achieve. However, it's Corel Paintshop Pro X6 I use the most.
